Hi,
danfoss has a list of symbols in vector surce fils "SAE J1362 Image Library v101_Latest_1_03107668", format "*.svg".
classic screen editor needs bmp-files, most 1bit colour.
For example I need 39x39 Pixel or 79x79 pixel, etc.
svg-file is vector based and so there is a high resolution.
If I export the svg-file via program libre-office-draw (or other) there will be a bmp which is 801x823 pixel.
I open this in windows paint and set the size to 5%, because it should be smaller.
But the result is not good enough.

Does anyone knows a way to get a good result?

The drawings from the SAE image library were made with Inkscape, a free professional quality vector graphics software which runs on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

In Inkscape the original vector graphic can be directly exported to .png (File -> Export PNG image), which includes properties like "Image size", to define the size of the exported picture. The exported .png will still contain a clear graphic and the transparency layer. Afterwards it can be easily transformed to almost any graphic format using MS Paint or similar programs.

I hope this helps.

Hi,
Ok, thanks!

I will post my way too:
Open svg-file with libre-office-draw (or another vector program) and convert the svg-file to bmp.
Then open bmp-file with windows paint change to 1bit black/white and resize the sheet for example to 800x800 pixels.
Then change size to 40x40 pixels.
Sometimes I have to optimize the symbol.

Hello,

I use the Adobe Illustrator for the graphics.
It's not the cheapest Software, but the functionality is great !

The standard (and very basic) Microsoft Paint does do the job (barely), however there are some much better programs out there that are free!

Paint.net is a fantastic tool where you can do a fair bit of what the big paint programs do:

Thanks.

I asked for a way to convert vector graphic (svg-files) in BMPs without any need to optimize manually.

My way: I have post it above.

Has anybody a better idea?

Hello all
I have found that inkscape is a great tool for modifying/manipulating any of the .svg SAEj1939 images. you can resize by pixel to exactly what you are looking for and add color for the DP250 or grey scale it for the DP200, once your image is modified I save it as a .png  Then I open the .png file with Gimp2 and check for any distorted pixelation  and correct it per pixel (kind of a pain but the results are the best I have found)  once you are happy with your image export the image as .bmp   Both inkscape and Gimp2 are free image editors and respectfully have there place.  I have imported the svg into Gimp but the results were less than desirable.  Hope this helps.  I have attached a .png  to show the power of the two combined, I created the gages with inkscape and cleaned up the pixelation with Gimp2.   it looks super clean on the DP250

What SVG Viewer for Windows Explorer do you use?
I take this:
https://svgextension.codeplex.com/downloads/get/803086
"SVG Explorer Extension"

And for working with svg-files "Inkscape"

All I use it the following for viewing and modifying.  I just associated the svg file type with inkcape.

I also had installed inkscape.
But doesn't seen a preview in windows editor, though I had accociated *.svg with inkscape.
